Meet our Founder
Crystal R. Currie, LCMHC
Crystal was born to parents who were 13 and 14 years old in a group home in Charlotte, NC. Just babies themselves, they lacked emotional, mental and financial stability. Childhood trauma followed Crystal into adulthood; where she struggled to discover her identity, consistently in a cycle of trying to earn love.
These struggles fueled her passion to create safe-spaces for individuals to heal from the childhood trauma that had her shackled for many years. Crystal began her therapy career with one goal in mind: help individuals of all ages and backgrounds break cycles and find true healing.
Crystal is the CEO of Compass Life Skills & Counseling, a trauma-focused therapy practice in NC. Along with her clinical therapy work, Crystal hosts annual mental health retreats and contributes to several organizations including Lincoln Financial, Mental Health America and the NC Justice Center. A graduate of UNC - Greensboro (B.S.) & Walden University (M.S.), she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision.
She is married to her incredible husband, Donald, and mother to two amazing children, Andrew & Alaina.
